playing clean stage play

Inspired by Ken Burns: Jazz, Playing Clean revolves about a young Mexican-American Jazz musician, Bunchy, and his idol, Ellis. Bunchy must chose between his loyalty to his musical idol or to pursue his dreams of playing his own music.

The One-Act Play opened Rio Hondo College's One-Act Festival in 2001. Selected to the 2002 Kennedy Centers American College Theater Festival's New Play Development Workshop, the play was directed by Laurie Woolery with dramaturgy by Jose Cruz Gonzalez..

In 2011, the play was adapted in a short film and is currently running on the Chicano Hollywood Channel.
